Fast Day 1

Matthew 26:40-41
40 And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter,
“So, could you not watch with me one hour? 41 Watch and pray that you may not
enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak

Jesus had fasted 40 days and nights in preparation for what laid before Him,
satan’s temptation. Jesus left that test triumphant but satan would return again to
torment Jesus in the garden. In this passage Jesus is entering into the garden to
pray. He knew that what the father had for Him to bear was almost too much. To
become sin, though he knew no sin, only to take upon his back all the wrath of
God. Jesus agonized and prayed “if there be another way Father, take this cup
from me” Two times He asks the Father to take the cup away, each time the
Father said no and each time Jesus returned to the disciples only to find them
sleeping. “ ye of little faith can you not pray with me one hour” The third time
Jesus asks, “take this cup from me” “never less not my will but thy will be done”

Imagine not praying for Jesus in His most critical time of need. Having seen all
that He had done, knowing full well that He was the messiah, the Son of God,
And He needed you to pray, otherwise He would not have asked. Yet the flesh
was willing but the spirit was weak.

Well Jesus isn’t in the garden anymore but He is seated at the right hand of the
Father and He is praying, praying hard, the Bible says interceding on our behalf
and on behalf of the lost. And do you know what His desire is? That the Father’s
will would be done, “that known should perish” Wow Jesus is praying and He is
asking us to pray, to pray and fast. What a joy, what an honor to serve at the
pleasure of the King and His cause. We wrestle not with flesh and blood, no we
fight in Spirit and in Truth, with His Word on our lips with take down all the high
places, and the works of the Devil!

So join me and your IN Church family as we fast and pray for the next 21 days,
for His Kingdom come and His will be done
